El Mirage

El Mirage is a suburban city located 27 miles northwest of downtown Phoenix. The population is currently at 35,000 with more and more people from around the region flocking to the area. El Mirage has the feel of a small town but it’s only a 20-minute drive away from the bustling environment of the Phoenix metro area.

The earliest inhabitants of El Mirage were the Hohokam, a Native American Community that were skilled irrigation farmers. Migrant farmers would eventually begin settling in the area during the 1930s because of its proximity to the Agua Fria River which made it sustainable to grow crops. El Mirage was officially incorporated as a city in 1951 with a very small population at the time.
